How do I Download and Install Audacity for Windows?
Audacity is a free audio recording and editing software students can use for any assignments that require an audio submission. The following steps will guide you through installing it on a Windows device.
Prerequisites
- Computer or laptop
- Internet connection
- Web browser
Step 1
Go to www.audacityteam.org and click "Download Audacity".

Step 3
Select your operating system from the list of options. In this case, Windows.

Step 4
Click "Download" next to the "Audacity Installer".

Step 5
Open the Audacity installer program
- The program is called "audacity-win-2.1.3", which is in your browser downloads or your "Downloads" folder.
- The download will appear in your browser download window, like this in Google Chrome:

Open your download folder.

Click on "audacity-win-2.1.3".

Step 6
When asked "Do you want to allow this app from an unknown publisher to make changes to your PC?", click "Yes" .

Step 7
Choose "English" when asked to select the language to use during installation, and click "OK"

Step 8
Close any other open programs before clicking "Next >" in the Audacity installation window.

Step 9
Read the information section on licenses, and click "Next >".

Step 10
Make sure Audacity will download to your Program Files. Click "Next >" on the "Select Destination" installer window

Step 11
Check off the box for "Create a desktop icon" and click "Next >"

Step 12
Click "Install" The installation wizard will now show a progress bar during the installation

Step 13
Read the support forum information section, and click on "Next >"

Step 14
Click "Finish" to finish the download and automatically open Audacity

Troubleshooting
- Make sure that you download the correct installer for your OS, otherwise the installer will not be able to install the application
- if you need to open audacity in the future, there will be an Audacity icon on your desktop for quick access.
