How do I Download and Install Audacity for Mac?
Audacity is a free audio recording and editing software students can use for any assignments that require an audio submission. The following steps will guide you through installing it on a macOS device.
Prerequisites
- Computer or laptop
- Internet connection
- Web browser
Step 1
Go to www.audacityteam.org and click "Download Audacity".
Step 3
Select your operating system from the list of options. In this case, macOS.
Step 4
Click "Download" next to the "Audacity Installer".
Step 5
Open the Audacity installer program in your computer's Downloads folder.
Step 6
Move Audacity into Your application folder by dragging the Audacity icon into the Applications folder. Afterwards, close this window.
Step 7
Open your Applications folder and click on the Audacity icon.
Step 8
When asked, "Are you sure you want to open it?", click "Open". Audacity will open, and you are ready to record audio
Step 9
Make sure to eject the Audacity installer. Open a finder window and press the eject button for the "Audacity" in your devices section
Troubleshooting
- Make sure that you download the correct installer for your OS, otherwise the installer will not be able to install the application
